Summary

Summary
The OIG’s then Analysis and Oversight Division conducted an internal investigation concerning allegations of misconduct by OIG employees. This investigation revealed that an OIG director and his subordinate employee had an extramarital affair. Only after being confronted with evidence did they admit to an inappropriate personal relationship and sexual misconduct, which occurred in OIG offices during working hours and on OIG business trips where the director orchestrated the subordinate employee’s attendance. The relationship resulted in multiple improper actions relating to preferential treatment and a toxic and hostile office environment. Appropriate disciplinary action was taken against the director and the subordinate employee. The director is no longer an employee of the OIG. To promote transparency and accountability, the OIG publishes summaries of internal investigations concerning allegations of misconduct by its senior personnel. Summary information released is consistent with applicable privacy laws and regulations.
