Accessibility

The VA OIG is committed to providing access to our website and products for all visitors with disabilities by meeting or exceeding requirements outlined in the Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, as amended (29 U.S.C. 794d).

Our Commitment

Section 508 is a federal law that requires all U.S. government agencies to make their electronic and information technology and data accessible to everyone. By law, agencies must provide people with disabilities the same level of access as those without disabilities. For example, a person who uses a screen reader to read a government website must get the same information as a person who reads the site visually. As part of this, the VA OIG requests feedback about any accessibility issues so that all individuals can get the information they need.

What to do if you find an accessibility issue

Send an email to OIGSection508@VA.gov. The subject line should say "Section 508 support request".

Be sure to include these details:

  • Where you found the issue. If you can, include the webpage address (or URL) of the page.
  • The type of assistive technology you were using when you found this issue. For example, tell us if you were using a screen reader, magnifier, etc.
  • Your contact information (if you want us to contact you if we need more details).
  • Any other information you think will help us fix the issue.

The VA OIG will assess the issue and assign it to the responsible team to fix it. If more information is needed, the Section 508 team will respond to your email.

All accessibility issues will be fixed as quickly as possible, but some issues may take several weeks or longer to fix. Please know that even if an issue isn’t fixed right away, the feedback helps make any issues a priority. If you would like to file a 508-related complaint, please contact the U. S. Department of Veterans Affairs Office of Resolution Management, Diversity and Inclusion toll free at 1-888-566-3982. For TDD/TTY needs, dial 711 and provide 711 services with the ORMDI line (888-566-3982).
