Summary
The purpose of this review was to determine the compliance of Veterans Integrated Service Network (VISN) oversight of peer review processes with Veterans Health Administration (VHA) policy. In 2004, VHA Directive 2004-054, Peer Review for Quality Management, gave VISNs responsibility for peer review oversight. VISNs were responsible for establishing oversight processes, conducting periodic inspections of all VISN facilities, and ensuring an adequate review of information provided quarterly by VISN facilities.
