Combined Assessment Program Review of the VA Long Beach Healthcare System Long Beach, California

The purpose of the review was to evaluate selected operations, focusing on patient care administration and quality management (QM). During the review, we provided crime awareness briefings to 583 employees. The review focused on eight operational activities. The facility complied with selected standards in the suicide prevention safety plans activity. The facility reported accomplishment was a successful outreach program with the U.S. Marine Corps. We made recommendations for improvement in the following seven activities: QM. Environment of care. Reusable medical equipment. Magnetic resonance imaging safety. Physician credentialing and privileging. Medication management. Coordination of care.
