Combined Assessment Program Review of the VA Gulf Coast Veterans Health Care System Biloxi, Mississippi

The purpose of the review was to evaluate selected operations, focusing on patient care administration and quality management (QM). During the review, we provided crime awareness briefings to 617 employees. This review focused on seven operational activities. The facility complied with selected standards in the following four activities: (1) coordination of care, (2) medication management, (3) physician credentialing and privileging, and (4) suicide prevention safety plans. The facility reported as accomplishments improving clinic utilization, managing difficult discharges, and a successful relationship with Department of Defense partners. We made recommendations for improvements in the following three activities: QM. Environment of care. Reusable medical equipment.
