Combined Assessment Program Review of the North Florida/South Georgia Veterans Health System Gainesville, Florida

The purpose of the review was to evaluate selected operations, focusing on patient care administration and quality management (QM). During the review, we also provided fraud and integrity awareness briefings to 481 employees. This review focused on eight operational activities. The system complied with selected standards for the suicide prevention safety plans activity. We identified the heart failure program, the patient education program, and the VA Nursing Academy as organizational strengths. We made recommendations for improvements in the following seven activities: Magnetic resonance imaging safety, Environment of care, Reusable medical equipment, Coordination of care, Physician credentialing and privileging, QM, and Medication management
