Combined Assessment Program Review of the Minneapolis VA Medical Center, Minneapolis, Minnesota

The purpose of the review was to evaluate selected operations, focusing on patient care administration and quality management (QM). We also provided fraud and integrity awareness training to 76 medical center employees. This review covered eight operational activities. The medical center complied with selected standards in the survey of healthcare experiences of patients. We identified screenings for obstructive sleep apnea as an organizational strength. We made 13 recommendations for improvements in QM, pharmacy operations, medication management, coordination of care, environment of care, Emergency Department operations, and nurse staffing.
