Combined Assessment Program Review of the Chillicothe VA Medical Center Chillicothe, Ohio

The purpose of the review was to evaluate selected operations, focusing on patient care, administration, and quality management (QM). During the review, we also provided fraud and integrity awareness briefings to 304 employees. This review focused on eight operational activities. The medical center complied with selected standards in the following three activities: (1) magnetic resonance imaging safety, (2) medication management, and (3) suicide prevention safety plans. We identified the ArtSafe Program and the patient library as organizational strengths. We made recommendations for improvements in the following five activities: Reusable medical equipment. Environment of care. Physician credentialing and privileging. QM. Coordination of care.
