Combined Assessment Program Review of the Beckley VA Medical Center, Beckley, West Virginia

The purpose of the review was to evaluate selected activities, focusing on patient care administration and quality management (QM). During the review, we provided crime awareness briefings to 514 employees. The review focused on eight operational activities. The facility complied with selected standards in the following two activities (1) medication management and (2) QM. The facility’s reported accomplishment was the implementation of zone maintenance to improve timely completion of work orders. We made recommendations for improvement in the following six activities: Coordination of care. Physician credentialing and privileging. Environment of care. Magnetic resonance imaging safety. Reusable medical equipment. Suicide Prevention Safety Plans.
