The OIG conducted a review of VHA prescribing practices for selected drugs issued to outpatients aged 65 or older. VHA's medication management of four drugs compare favorably to the private sector. VHA can help optimize medication management for specific drugs and patient populations by providing data on drug specific prescribing practices to VHA managers and clinicians.
